About Little House of Music

Thank you for allowing us to introduce you to "Little House of Music".

Little House of Music is a product designed for teaching music to children ages 4-7 years old. It is a well-known fact that children of this age are anxious to learn. In fact, experts in education agree that children who learn music at an early age and to be more successful than students who don't.

Fact: One of the only activities that activates, stimulates, and uses the entire brain IS MUSIC!

I created Little House of Music due to an increase in demand for a teacher who would teach young children. It’s very often that private teachers won’t take on any child of preschool age. I wanted to give an opportunity for children to start even earlier in their musical careers. I also wanted to create a method of learning that is fun for the children and keeps them entertained all while learning each step of the way!

Music is our only universal language.

During my 30 years of teaching music to preschool children, I became aware of the need for a music course that considered the children's short attention span and decided to translate the concepts of learning music into a thrilling, fun and exciting program.

To accomplish this goal, I experimented with a group of preschool children, and taught them to learn music together in a "Fun Environment". The strategy evolved into the Little House of Music program. I developed a 30-week visual and audio music course specifically designed for all children as young as three.

The program consists of a "Fun" music book with a keyboard to aid in reinforcing what they learn in each lesson and two CD's of the music they hear during each of the ten lessons in each level.

Our Goal: To make affordable quality music education available to all children. Our music course is purposely written so that children with any handicap can also learn music.

Little House of Music was developed to make sure all children have the opportunity to learn and enjoy music. Little House of Music is a new and unique methodology for teaching music theory to young children in a way that is not only fun but helps create in them a love and appreciation of music.

Unique Methodology: Composed of over one hundred and fifty original songs that describe and explain music symbols and concepts. Little House of Music includes such memorable tunes as I'm A Star, Marching Into Music, Mr. Quarter Note, and Myrtle the Turtle. Music symbols become real live characters whose roles are portrayed in a whimsical analogy to facilitate children's comprehension and memorization with a memorable story line where all the music symbols live in a home, what children know best is "Home!"

Music Education and the Preschool Child

Every child has musical aptitude - the inborn capacity to respond to musical sound and recreate music. Although talent varies among children, they all have the ability to achieve musically, and will be greatly influenced by the timing and quality of their early experiences.

Music education has been generally neglected or diminished from the preschool and school curricula, but educators have come to realize that the preschool age group comprises the optimal learning window for developing musical skills.

Preschoolers love to play, and aren't afraid of walking and talking; they are perfectly adapted to learning by repetition and practice. Music should be an integral part of a child's growth.
